Recent research indicates that nearly 70% of men arrested under Section 498A IPC are eventually acquitted. Despite this, the damage to their reputation, careers, and personal lives is often irreversible. False allegations can inflict severe emotional trauma, tear families apart, and negatively impact children. The financial burden of prolonged litigation adds further stress.

A study published in the Journal of Indian Law & Society revealed that 62% of women who filed cases under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA) had a prior history of disputes with their husbands. These were primarily property or financial conflicts. Only 21% of the cases were found to involve genuine domestic violence, while the remaining 17% lacked clear or identifiable motives.
